THE VOICE OF CARLSBAD'S YOUTH.
Bridging The Gap
ABOUT US
The Carlsbad Youth Action Team is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that is completely driven by young high school and junior high students from Carlsbad, CA.
Meet the future representative generations of youth from the City of Carlsbad, CA. We sought after a collective community goal, to equip the Carlsbad youth with the necessary tools in order to make an impact in certain aspects of their lives, particularly, in their community.
The Carlsbad Youth Action Team provides current and innovative solutions towards community involvement and overcoming City challenges, yet more profound - with youth being the forefront of the movement.
WHO WE ARE
We are a network of teenagers who are dedicated to giving ourselves a voice in the Carlsbad community.
This gives you an inside look at the inner-workings of the Carlsbad youth demographic - how we speak, think, and live. Also, on our approach towards gaining hands-on experiences in order to learn how to become more civically engaged with the community.
HOW WE ARE UNIQUE
To put it simply, we are a group of students who founded/participate in this city-sponsored organization of which consists of a unique pedagogy. It's unlike any other organization out on the market that's as authentic towards the understandings of real community solutions presented by the youth.
The Carlsbad Youth Action Team has created this platform to give a voice and include the youth's perspectives and arguments.
HOW WE DO IT
Our unique program that lasts year round, seeks to include a youth audience within the ranges of 9th-12th grades in order to "bridge" the Carlsbad community through collaborative activities of which align with the Carlsbad Youth Action Team's Three Pillars. Including, Student Development, Community Service, and Civic Interaction. This allows flexibility with the creativity of our decided actions. Students choose to be part of one of the three Sub-Teams that interest them, comprising of the Education Team, Energy/Environment Team, and Economic Development Team. With all of these aspects viably working together.
Students within the ranges of 6th-8th grades are also encouraged to participate in the program through a more limited capacity by becoming a Leader-In-Training before they enter high school and become an "official" member of the team.
The Carlsbad Youth Action Team poses an opportunity for the Carlsbad community to become more inclusive and aware in order to form a further developed City. Which is by utilizing our team's fundamental tactics to appeal to the Carlsbad youth demographic.

Three Pillars
STUDENT DEVELOPMENT
Students exercise their public speaking skills consistently, whether it's presenting in front of City Council, or collaborating with other group members, we believe the key to creativity is collaboration. We provide a specific curriculum of which further encourages this.
COMMUNITY SERVICE

We participate in community service opportunities that are already offered through various organizations, or we'll create our own service projects by proposing our unique ideas to organizations in Carlsbad. Students benefit through the satisfaction of giving back while earning community service hours.
CIVIC/GOVERNMENT INTERACTION
The students act as a "voice" for all other Carlsbad teens by being representatives at their schools. Finding out the local Carlsbad related issues that matter to the adult and youth populations. Working closely with supporting the local city government by contributing new perspectives.
